Sleep Please?

This past Saturday was again, a very busy one!  I started off the day with my first chiropractic visit.  Why you say?  Well main reason is because of the pain.  I've been waking up at night (a lot) with severe hip pain.  It makes it hard to sleep on my side.  The pain seems to radiate down my leg.  On one hand, it's a good thing, cause it means my hips are widening and preparing but on the other, it hurts!  Second reason is, this chiropractic has good experience with pregnant women and knows the "Webster's Technique".  It's a technique that they use to turn/encourage a breech baby.  Since we heard a couple of weeks ago from our 4D that she was breech, I started checking up on this.  She still has time to turn but at least I know that I have many many methods to encourage her if I need too.  I have faith that she'll do what she needs to though.

Next, we had our Northside Forsyth hospital tour.   Found several things very promising- loved the room- was HUGE, the jacuzzi was amazing, and loved that all procedures/bath was done in room with mommy and that they would wait and encourage skin to skin immediately.  Downsides?  Didn't get all the information I was looking for.  I had several questions about statistics (does hospital have a labor time limit, c-section rate) that the lady was unable to answer.  I was asking these questions to try to gauge just how open they were to natural childbirths.  I kept getting "depends on your OB" as an answer- which I will call BS on.  Cause my OB was the one telling me to ask...anywho.  When we made it around to see the nursery, we got to talking to the other couples in the tour.  Little did we know that 2 of them had given birth naturally before and loved it and gave us encouraging words (there was another couple there due Aug 24 that wanted to go natural as well- first timers too).  Then there was one girl that was awfully quiet cause obviously she was taken back and shocked that we all wanted to go natural.  It's funny to watch reactions like that.  But talking to those moms was very nice.  And apparently they're happy with Northside since they are returning.  We go to Emory this Saturday so we'll choose soon.

Then it was home for a little before the Skype shower began.  It was a shame that we couldn't make it to NY to see everyone in person but was sooooo nice to "see" them still.  I think that Adam's grandmother still never fully got the idea but everyone seemed to love that they could see Adam and I.  The only downside seemed to be the sound.  We felt that we weren't in on a lot of conversations taken place there because if more than one person talked at a time, it was just a jumble of noise.  But we got to play a couple of games and opened up our gifts.  Adam and I even had our own "food" to make it more of a shower to us!  We got a lot of stuff we needed and are so thankful for what everyone has gotten us so far.  I spent all day Sunday doing laundry and putting things in place as much as possible.

Tuesday, I dropped by Primrose to turn in our preregistration form....Kinsley is officially a part of the Primrose family now.  They gave us a booklet, a diaper bag, and a onesie.  So cute.  I am truly excited for her to be going to Primrose.  I don't think I'll be as excited come January when she will actually be attending though...just thinking about it makes me cry.  Leaving my baby girl in someone else's arms will be very tough!

In other news...My dad came over Wednesday night for dinner at our house.  I had suspicions something was going on- why would he drive to Buford for dinner?  But never could've guessed the news I was about to hear.  My dad had been going to the doctor for a few weeks getting tests done.  For a while now, he's felt as if something wasn't right, but if you know my dad at all- LOL- getting him to go to a doctor for anything, is a hassle (just like my brother).  Well needless to say, there was a reason for concern.  After testing, they discovered my dad has a brain tumor.  Now, before I scare you, we thank God that it is not malignant AND that it is a pituitary functioning tumor.  Things could be a lot worse.  Only thing is that since they just now found it, it has gotten quite large (we think it's been there for ~10 years).  He has been put on medication that he takes twice a week.  They will test his blood after a month of medication to see how the drugs are working.  He'll then get another MRI two months from now.  Adam and I are staying very positive about this situation.  I think he's a very lucky man and his doctor seems to believe that this medication will work just fine (90% sure).  Now, to keep everyone's spirits in good orders, and we'll conquer this bad boy!  If there is anything I've learned from all my readings during pregnancy it is your mindset really has a lot to do with your health.  If you are unhappy/depressed, your body will ache and feel tired as well.  If you welcome pain and tough roads with an open mind, you'll be amazed at what you're body can do.  "Mind over body".  My dad was a marine, I have full faith he can tackle this.  Semper fi!  After all, his granddaughter is cheering him on just as much, she want's to meet the man that spoiled her mama!

O and to be fair...on some other medical news in our family.  My brother had injured his knee a couple weeks ago during one of his and Adam's soccer games.  We'll he's been limping around for weeks now.  He asked me several question about my knee and the pain I had had, well Dr. Dana did her diagnosis and guessed that he had indeed done the same thing as me- tore his meniscus.  Well he went to the doc this past week and sure enough, Dr. Dana was right!  This poor guy cannot catch a break, he had "injured" his right foot and had surgery scheduled for that.  Now, that is on hold so that he can have knee surgery (left leg) first.  I feel for him and know exactly what he's going through.  It is not fun!  I think Adam is a little sad to have lost his soccer bud too.  I know they both enjoyed playing together.  So pray for my dad and a speedy recovery on my brother's end too!

Awesome Week

Since the last post we have had a lot going on!

On Kinsley- went to the doctor and everything looks great.  My fundal height is still right on to what it should be, so that means she's growing at a good rate.  The most shocking thing to me to come out of that appointment was in the two weeks, I had only gained a pound!  My weight fluctuates so much, it's impossible to keep track.  We were given the preregistration package for Northside as well.  Our Northside tour is this Saturday- really excited about it, I've heard nothing but good things about that place.  O and we have decided on a daycare....drum roll please.....Primrose.  Not an easy decision by any means but we are going to try Primrose out for a year.  If we see that financially we are okay (and it's as good as we think it will be), we'll continue.  Primrose just caught our eye with the actual learning program they have there.  It's not just a babysitting place, it's educational as well.  One thing I value the most with them is that they have subjects each week (even in the infant room) and they teach baby sign language.  So we'll see how that all goes!  We've also figured out how long I will be out from work.  That was not easy to do either....

Babyshower- We had our GA baby shower Saturday.  And many many thanks goes out to Shannon, my mom, Megan and Ashley for pulling it off.  We had just around 25 people show up and it was amazing.  It was great to get to see everyone!  We got all sorts of really great gifts that I've already been putting up and washing.  Cannot wait to be able to use them!  I think Kinsley is already up to 14 pairs of shoes...already following in her momma's shoes.  Here's a few pictures from the shower.

JAKEY-  So another exciting note- Friday night I got to meet Jake Owen!  We got to the arena about 5:30 and by 6:30 I was standing looking at Jake.  They had filed us into the Gwinnett Gladiators locker room.  We got to take one picture, chat, and have him sign one item.  When it was my turn, I took my picture (below) and then handed him the onesie I had made for him to sign.  He loved it!  He held it up and said "awesome" and the crowd all went "awwww".  He asked what her name was going to be and I told him and he wrote on there "Kinsley <3 Jake Owen" (pic below).  Once he signed it he said "I feel so special signing something for someone who hasn't even been born yet".  Then it was Adam's turn.  Jake said "this must be Kinsley's dad" and they met (my two husbands met!).  They took their picture and then Jake said his congrats and good luck and that was that.  He was so nice and joking around to all of us when we were in there (about 30 people got to meet him).  We then were filed out and went to watch the show.  Which was really a "Keith Urban" concert but I HATE Keith Urban (hate his music and him- cocaine addict).  So we watched Jake then left.  Apparently this was a shocker to the people sitting around us...they had no clue who Jake Owen was to begin with.  But I quickly turned them into a fan (a close up picture of Mr. Hottie himself doesn't hurt to show). We got home and had some really awesome BBQ Adam had made in the crockpot.  Overall, an awesome night!

Nursery- While I was busy getting ready for the shower, Adam and my dad hit up the nursery.  The job this weekend?  The closet!  Here's some before and after shots.

"Storage"

Cleaned out, old shelves

Note: This is still not all the shoes...

Can you say spoiled already? :)

Today while the closet was getting the final touches, mom and I made these:

Ouch or Boo Boo Bags

Little 5" x 5" pillows filled with rice, best for those little bumps and scraps Kinsley may get!  Good hot or cold.

Till next time...

Time flies

Since the last post, a lot has been going on.  We had the pleasure of keeping Madison one night.  We ended up taking her to the Fernbank Museum.  And while I think she was still a little too young for most things, she sure did have fun.  Out of all the things she saw (dinosaurs, mermaids, deer, etc) she says her favorite part was the "stars"- one tiny room that had LEDs on the ceiling to look like a starry night.

The following Monday, I officially entered into the third trimester- dun dun dun.  Seems like it is taking forever!  That Friday, I had to go bright and early for the lovely glucose test- LUCKILY, I passed the 1 hour, so never had to do the 3 hour test.  BUT the nurse was concerned that my blood was too watery.  So they checked my iron levels- came back that I am slightly anemic.  While yes this doesn't seem like a big deal to most- to me it is.  Why?  Because it's just one more pill/intervention I have to take.  I now take Zofran (nausea medicine), prenatal, Prevacid (for acid reflux), Omegas, and Iron.  The prenatal and omegas, I don't mind.  It's all the other stuff.  I've recently just been "living with" the acid reflux cause I don't want to keep drugging my baby.  It's a battle with myself...I just feel like the more I keep taking, the more I'm putting into her body as well (all for my comfort it seems- Prevacid and Zofran at least).

Well that next weekend we had our Hypnobirthing class.  It was like a weekend crash course...but still VERY worth it.  It was awesome to hear the "science" behind things we had been reading about.  Sunday's course was the actual relaxation methods used in Hypnobirthing.  We received a book and a CD as well.  So I've been busy practicing those techniques every night.  I can say that the nights I do listen to the CD, are some of the best nights of sleep I get.  For those unfamiliar with Hypnobirthing, it is the principal of self-hypnosis to ease labor.  Think of it as those last 10 minutes of yoga where you start by relaxing your face to your feet- brings about a deep state of relaxation.  I also keep gathering things to help for the big day, made my list of things to pack and will start working on that bag soon enough! I've also drafted my birth plan and hope to get that finished up in the next couple of weeks.  We have officially hired a doula- Talitha.  I'm very happy this weight is off and I think we've found someone special.

We have since finished our last daycare tour and now have a decision to make.  It really isn't an easy thing- to pick somewhere that your child will do a lot of her "growing up".

Last Saturday we went for our 4D ultrasound, and Kinsley was stubborn yet again!  Even though I had so much sugar for breakfast, she was sound asleep!  We still managed to get several good pictures though.

Little smile

My favorite

This Saturday is our first baby shower!  And I am sooo excited.  Excited to see everyone, eat, play games, and of course, presents.  I'm ready to get everything in place in the house and just wait for the "special package" to arrive.  Things are slowly coming together in her room but I feel after this weekend and next (another shower)- things will be a little more "pink" around the house!!

Now that I go to the doctor every two weeks, we have been informed (early mind you) that my doctor's office is now also delivering at Northside Forsyth Hospital (as well as Emory John's Creek).  Northside just redid the Women's Center and we've heard so much good stuff about it- and it is a lot closer to our house.  BUT Emory is closer to their office (attached), I'm familiar with it (was a patient there and SIL had both kids there) but being familiar with it- I know just how bad/pain in the a@@ their billing department is too.  So needless to say, we are touring both hospitals in the next couple of weeks then will make the decision.  O and the pediatrician interviews are about to begin...

O yeah and how could I forget the most important, awesomist news....I get to meet Jake Owen Friday night!!!!!!!!!!!!  For those who don't know- Jakey is my second husband.  He doesn't know it yet, but soon enough...(can you tell I am slightly obsessive).  I won Meet and Greet tickets through his fan club and cannot wait!  He takes a picture and signs an item- soooooo I've made a onesie with "Yee Haw" written in pink on it for him to sign (Yee Haw was his first single- and one of my favorites).  My lovely husband gets to witness me being probably one of those crazy "teenage" like crying fans on Friday too- lucky him.  LOL And of course, those pictures are sure to come...
