Well since the last post not much has been happening. Went to the doctor Thursday and found out I was almost 2 cm and 75% effaced, still -2 station. The bigger concern is the ever longing "hypertension" worry. All my blood from the previous week came back fine. She drew more to have a comparison. I've been keeping track of my BP and showed those numbers to her (avg is 120s/80s). But she advised me to go on "modified bedrest" meaning once I get home from work- bedrest, and no more festivals! LOL She did want to see me earlier in the week and to discuss full bedrest at my next appointment (tomorrow).
I'm really not sure what to think about all of this. While half of me welcomes the relief of my complete exhaustion, half of me thinks I will become very bored and impatient. And also, that she will pressure me on inducing labor even more so. I'm not fully on board with her on her concern about hypertension. I realize I'm not the doctor but I have no other symptoms of concern (pain in right chest, blurry vision, etc). My biggest thing is swelling. I get a few headaches (which some are directly related to work) and my BP is "moderately high" (not the 140/90+ to be hypertension). So needless to say, I'm nervous/indifferent about my appointment tomorrow.
My second concern is my birth plan...if you know Adam and I at all, you will know we don't seem to have the greatest of luck. Our wedding wasn't quite how we planned, our jobs haven't been exactly perfect, and now our plans/intentions for this birth seem to be getting off track already. By this I mean, our doula. We hired a doula to help us stay on our natural childbirth path. Well she has had some health issues and is uncertain she will be able to attend our birth (no fault to her- her health is just as important). She is having us meet with her back up but I'm just worried that something may happen before this whole situation gets worked out. (One minute I'm ready for her to be here, the other I need her to hold on so we can work this out.) Given that my medical issues are alleviated, I plan on still having a natural childbirth. A doula is something I've been really looking forward to to give me that extra ear of encouragement.
Please keep us and baby Kinsley in your prayers while we get all of this worked out. I will of course, keep everyone posted on the doctor's visit tomorrow.
